NFC bag tags for school sports, band and clubs. One tap on a phone opens whatever you chose to put on it: emergency information such as allergies, or a message to a guardian, already addressed. Nothing for them to install. Nothing to sign up for.
It clips on once.
And stays put.
A screw-close steel cable loop through the zipper pull. It clips to the outside and stays there for the school year, through practice, the bus and the locker room, and it is still on there in March. Nobody has to remember to charge it, open it or renew it.
If the bag gets left somewhere, whoever finds it taps it and gets a text already addressed to a guardian, ready to send.

A lot of the kids are years away from carrying a phone of their own. They cannot call you, and the adult standing next to them has no way to reach you either.
The tag covers that gap. It hangs on the bag they already carry, and it works whether or not there is anything in their pocket.

How it works
Hold
Bring an NFC-enabled phone near the circle on the back of the tag. Most phones from the last several years read it as soon as the screen is on. Nothing to unlock.
Tap
What you chose opens on the finder's phone: emergency information such as allergies, or a message already addressed to a guardian. Nothing gets installed.
Connect
Whoever found the bag has what they need, or a text to a guardian is sitting there ready to send. That is the whole product: no account behind it, no page to log into, nothing to renew.

Sport, club or band, every tag is printed in PETG with a screw-close steel cable loop. It clips to the outside of the bag and stays there for the school year. The tags below are drawn for South Pier High School, our own example school, so you can see the full range without borrowing any district's marks.
Your district's collection is drawn to its own colors and marks, with the district's permission, before anything is printed. Approved school collections are added here as they come in.

The information can be changed whenever it needs to be. A new phone, a different guardian on pickup duty, a grandparent for the season. All without buying a new tag and without coming back to me.
Only the information you choose is on the tag. What you send at order is written to the tag and then deleted; South Pier Co. keeps no record of it.

There is no account behind the tag and no page of yours sitting on anybody’s server. The only copy of what you chose is the one in your hand.

A dad who worries
about his kids.
Hey, I’m Steven. I’m a dad in Grand Haven, and like every other parent around here I spend a fair amount of time thinking about where my kids are and who they are with.
South Pier Co. started with my daughter. We had just moved back home. New school, new team, cheer for the first time. Two ordinary things kept coming back to me. She is going to leave that bag somewhere; that is not a maybe, that is a Tuesday. And she rides home from practice on her bike.
If something serious happens, somebody calls 911. The tag is not for that and never will be. It is for everything either side of it: the bag left on the bus, the ride that never turned up, the practice that finished early, the grown-up standing there who just needs to reach a guardian and has no way to.
So I made her a tag. Then it occurred to me that every other parent in those bleachers has the same two thoughts.
I spent twenty years in the Navy before this, and I am still in school, finishing an MS-MSL at Michigan State. Go Green. But I build the work around my family now rather than the other way round, and this is part of that. I design, print, finish and program every tag myself, here in Grand Haven. That is also why there is no account to make, nothing to subscribe to and nobody else’s server involved. It’s me.
